Lampoon Magazine

Lampoon Magazine: sustainability is fashion.

Lampoon Magazine Milan is a decidedly unconventional magazine: a magazine about art, design, culture and fashion with a different and often irreverent perspective compared to the criterions we are accustomed to. A magazine that is pure communication: from the topics covered to the layout, everything is designed to make each issue a limited edition.

We have been collaborating with Lampoon Magazine for years, but this time we were involved in quite a complex challenge: create a special issue dedicated to sustainability, in collaboration with the client. Because the world of Luxury plays an essential role in the market, if it becomes the precursor of change and opens new paths towards a new model of circular, and not just sustainable economy. And the intention of the editor is to manifest this philosophy. And in the editor’s intention, this issue is a manifesto of this philosophy.

The project began with a search for materials that were not only certified, but also fully recycled and recyclable, guaranteeing at the same time, a printing yield up to the quality standards of this exclusive magazine: after months of searching and samples, the choice of paper went to Favini Shiro Echo White:

  • 100% recycled
  • 100% recyclable and biodegradable
  • FSC certified
  • Zero emissions thanks to the neutralization of residual CO2 by the FAVINI paper mill.

A part of the print run was made with a stitched paperback binding ensuring the highest quality and durability especially for prints with a high number of pages. However, the real challenge was managing to design the cover of the VIP edition with the new eco-sustainable Re-Nylon fabric made by Prada.

Special Edition: eco-sustainable Re-Nylon fabric made by Prada

This material is used by the Italian brand to produce clothes and accessories, but it had never been used before for bookbinding: Faenza Group’s technicians had to study a new production method to make a hardback cover with Re-Nylon covering the front, back and part of the back, revising the printing project so that the thickness was calibrated with respect to the paper pages. Moreover, this special edition included a silkscreen finish and the manual application of an image on the cover.

A complex, innovative and significant project that we are very proud of: because it has allowed us to overcome a new limit and take a further step towards a more ethical and sustainable way of doing business.
