An original book tells the story of Suranga Katugampala’s film ‘Still Here’
“Crazy Fish Sing”, published by Yogurt Editions and curated by Simone Brioni, is a visual art book inspired by the film ‘Still Here’ by Suranga Katugampala, an Italian director of Sri Lankan origin.
‘Still Here’ is set in a suspended and experimental dimension, undefined and undefinable, on the border between noir and documentary.
Filmed in Colombo, the great city of Sri Lanka, and in Milan, this adventurous film transports the reader through its real, imaginary, and affective geographies, among places, noises, silences, architecture, people, and souls.
The volume “Crazy Fish Sing” offers a unique vision and perspective right behind the scenes of the making of ‘Still Here’, and an interesting journey through the questions and reflections that this film raises about cultural contamination, urbanization, and realism.
The publication of “Crazy Fish Sing” is part of a project made possible thanks to the support of the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture as part of the 12th edition in 2023 of Italian Council, the program for the international promotion of contemporary Italian art.
